Sub-Contractor Opportunities - Nation-Wide
Join Our Investigator Network
We partner with licensed private investigators across the country on a sub-contractor basis - case by case, in your state, on your schedule. If you're a licensed PI with a background in law enforcement, military intelligence, or corporate security, we'd like to hear from you.
Apply as a Sub-Contractor
This is not a traditional employment application - we engage investigators as independent sub-contractors on a case-by-case basis. Fill out the form below and a member of our team will reach out if your background aligns with our current needs.
How sub-contracting with Encyphir works
Encyphir does not hire staff investigators. We build long-term relationships with licensed PIs across the country and assign cases to sub-contractors based on location, availability, and area of expertise. When a case comes in from a client in your state, we reach out with the details. You decide whether to take it. There are no minimums, no exclusivity requirements, and no pressure to accept assignments that do not fit your schedule or capability.
Assignments typically include surveillance operations, background investigations, scene investigations, witness interviews, and skip tracing. All case parameters, legal boundaries, and reporting standards are communicated in writing before any fieldwork begins. Our reports must meet a defined standard for court admissibility, and we provide detailed briefs for each assignment so you know exactly what we need and why.
Compensation is negotiated per case based on scope and jurisdiction. Invoices are paid promptly on completion and review of the deliverable. We treat our sub-contractors as professionals, because the quality of our client outcomes depends on them.
What we look for
The strongest candidates have a background in law enforcement, military intelligence, or a related investigative field, and hold an active private investigator license in at least one U.S. state. Specialty credentials such as the Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) designation are a significant advantage, particularly for financial crime and insurance fraud work.
Beyond credentials, we look for investigators who communicate clearly in writing, can produce professionally formatted reports, and understand how evidence handling and chain of custody affect case outcomes. If that describes you, we would like to hear from you.
