Frequently asked questions

Will anyone find out I hired an investigator?

No. Surveillance is run so it goes unnoticed, and your engagement stays between you and the people working your file. If the case ever reaches a point where a subject or witness has to be contacted directly, we clear it with you first.

What is this going to cost me?

Work is scoped by the hour, by the day, or as a flat fee depending on what is involved, and you get that scope in writing after a free consultation. Nothing is spent before you approve it. If we do not think an investigation will get you what you need, we will say so instead of taking the retainer.

Is what you gather actually legal to use?

Yes. A licensed investigator can document a person in public places where there is no reasonable expectation of privacy. We do not trespass, enter homes or fenced yards, record through windows, or intercept private communications, because evidence obtained that way can destroy the case it was meant to support. Recording and consent rules vary by state, and they shape how interviews and statements are handled.

How fast can you start?

Most Rapid City cases can be staffed within 24 hours, and urgent matters sooner. Timing matters more than people expect: patterns shift, footage gets overwritten, and witnesses move, so the sooner we start the more there is to find.

How long does an investigation take?

A records-based background investigation is often complete within a few business days. Surveillance depends on the subject: some cases produce what you need in a single day, others need several sessions across a week or more to catch a pattern. You get an honest estimate up front, and we will tell you when continuing is no longer likely to be worth the spend.

Can I use the findings in court?

That is the standard we work to. Evidence is legally obtained, documented with dates and times, and reported so it can be authenticated. Our investigators are available to testify about how the material was collected, which matters as much as the material itself.

Do you only work in Rapid City?

No. A subject rarely stays put for the convenience of the case, so we work Rapid City and the surrounding South Dakota region, and can continue a case in any other state through our national network.
